Accent Reduction: American English Pronunciation – 10.5 hours
The international speaker of English can greatly improve pronunciation with the assistance of this professional speech-language pathologist. Each student will have the opportunity to practice new pronunciations with direct feedback from the instructor. As students focus on changing pronunciation, they also acquire American formal and informal expressions in a relaxed, workshop-style course setting. Tuition includes textbook. Limited to 15.

Cardio Salsa – 8 hours
Discover the charm and sensuality of Salsa dance. This fun, fitness dance class will give you a good cardiovascular workout while you learn to move to the beat of the Tropics. With easy to follow routines you will get into shape, burn calories – lots of them – and learn the Salsa moves, all while having a great time! No partner or previous dance experience needed. Join us! Course is held at Monroe Drive dance studio. Tuition is per person.

Strengthen, energize, and detoxify your mind and body with this challenging and graceful, Vinyasa-style class. With emphasis on breathing and core stability, this athletic class will focus on flow, movement, balance, and intention. Open your heart and free your spirit as you burn calories; improve your balance, flexibility, and endurance; de-stress for the week; and have fun. All levels, including beginners, are welcome. Hip-Hop Dance for Beginners – 8 hours
Wish you could do cool hip-hop moves like you see on TV? Would you like to know exactly what it takes to learn them and get a fun workout? Imagine a dance class that’s so energetic, you’ll never want to be anywhere else! That class is here and this is your chance to add some “flava” to your step. In Hip-Hop, you will learn body isolations, hip-hop technique, and fresh new dance routines. Course will be held at a dance studio in Buckhead. Limited to 20. Tuition is per person.

Explore all things Italian, and learn to speak the way the natives do in their lilting native tongue. In this introductory course you will learn basic grammar presented in life-like contexts, conversational skills, travel tips, and cultural notions. Ideal for beginners who are planning a trip to Italy or are simply in love with the Italian culture. Tuition includes Evening at Emory custom text and Blackboard, an online language resource center. Line Dancing — Fun and Exercise – 7.33 hours
Let's get moving! Start with the very basics of this no-partner-required dance format. Progress to the rhythm, movement, floor position, and dance patterns. It's a fun format that everyone can do (and you'll love the music, too). You'll have a lively evening. The more you dance the more fun it is. . . And the more fun you're having, the more you're moving about — mind, body, everything! Limited to 30. Tuition is per person.

Spanish I – 12 hours
This introductory course is for beginners with little or no understanding of the Spanish language. You’ll quickly build a bank of practical Spanish phrases through listening, speaking, reading and writing about variety of topics at the fundamental level. We focus on verbal communication and such grammar basics as how Spanish sentences are structured. At course completion, you’ll be able to interact with Spanish speakers at work, in the marketplace, or during leisure or business travel. Tuition includes Evening at Emory custom text, CD and Blackboard, an online language resource center. Limited to 25.

Survey of Art History: The Perfect Museum – 9 hours
Visit a "perfect" museum via slides and discussion of world famous European and American paintings from the Renaissance to Modern times. Wouldn't it be great to view art works by Leonardo, Rembrandt, Monet and Van Gogh as if they were exhibited under one virtual roof? In the course, students examine major forms of artistic expression from a variety of cultures such as: Italian Renaissance, Dutch Baroque, French Impressionism, German Expressionism and American Abstract and Pop Art. Students will learn to look and analyze works of art in their historical context, and to articulate what they see and experience in a meaningful way.

The Atlanta Opera: The Bel Canto Era: Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti – 8 hours
In conjunction with The Atlanta Opera's 2009-2010 season, Evening at Emory will offer a four-week session called "The Bel Canto Era: Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti". During the first two sessions, veteran opera instructor Carter Joseph will examine the bel canto era through the life and works of master composers Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini. Week three will introduce Gaetano Donizetti and his work The Elixir of Love specifically. The course culminates with a night at the opera, as participants attend The Atlanta Opera’s production of The Elixir of Love. Tuition includes performance ticket. No discounts.
