Hashem Dezhbakhsh

Biography
Dr. Dezhbakhsh is a professor of economics and chair of the Economics Department at Emory University. His areas of expertise are in applied econometrics, economic forecasting, financial economics, economics of crime, and applied microeconomics. He has taught at Emory University, Ohio State University, Purdue University, and University of Cape Town. He has taught courses in doctoral, bachelors, masters, and executive MBA programs. Dr. Dezhbakhsh’s articles have appeared in leading economic journals, and his research has been cited in Newsweek, USA Today, Economist, New York Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Houston Chronicle, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Boston Globe, Australian, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Chronicle of Higher Education, National Journal, American Outlook, Weekly Standard, and National Review among others. Dr. Dezhbakhsh has appeared as an expert on many radio talk shows including NPR as well as on CNN, FOX News Channel, and ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX affiliates in Atlanta. He has worked as an economic consultant for GAO, Carter Center, R.J. Reynolds, Pfizer, Drug Emporium, and Regional Bell Operating Companies. Dr. Dezhbakhsh is the recipient of several awards including Cuttino Award for Excellence in Mentorship, Emory University’s Williams Distinguished Teaching Award, Ohio State University’s Outstanding Teaching Award, and Sigma Nu Fraternity’s Favorite Faculty Award and Phi Beta Kappa recognition for excellent teaching.
