Hands-on LearningThe classes in the Emory Certificate in Access Application Development are not lecture based. Each course is carefully designed to provide time for participants to learn AND practice the real-world database development skills they are gaining. Valuable Capstone CourseThe Emory Certificate in Access Application Development ends with a valuable 5-week capstone course in which participants are guided through the creation of a quality database application project from concept to completion. During the capstone class, participants are assisted by a database application design specialist as they create a professional database application, which serves as the final project for the certificate. Flexible/Convenient FormatParticipants may take classes at times that are convenient for them. Our flexible, open enrollment format allows participants one year to complete all required classes in the certificate, and each class is offered several times every year. Certificate RequirementsParticipants must complete the seven courses listed below. If a course has a prerequisite, then the prerequisite course must be completed first. The certificate program must be completed within one year of enrollment. After completing all required courses, participants must complete the 5-week capstone course.
1) Core ClassesCandidates must complete the following seven courses with a total of 71.5 hours.
2) Capstone Course and ProjectCandidates must complete and receive a passing score in the 5-week capstone course, which will be offered 3 times per year. The course focuses on topics including identifying the requirements for a database’s functionality, and mastering the elements of design so that you can create databases like a pro. The instructor will evaluate and provide a critique of each student's final database application project, and advise students on how they can immediately take advantage of their newly gained skills.
